We love a good primer here at the Wedding Fairy. Sure, you have your favourite foundation but behind every successful make up application there stands a primer, or eh something to that effect! This product is a multi tasker from providing a perfect canvas for foundation to encouraging it to stay on all day, where would we be without the helping hand of a primer? Probably with our head stuck in a compact mirror three times a day retouching our make up. With that in mind I have gone to the trouble of trying and testing some of the finest on the market! You are welcome!

Cover FX Calming Primer 30ml – Harvey Nichols – £29 30ml

Cover FX Calming Primer

This SPF 30 primer does triple duty by protecting, hydrating, and smoothing skin to blur the appearance of fine lines and pores and facilitating blending and extended wear. It contains safe-to-use broad-spectrum organic sunscreens and does not contain nanoparticles.

My verdict:

I really love this product for a number of reasons. It has a beautiful soft texture that sits comfortably on the skin offering some moisturising properties as well as the main function of prep and prime. I hadn’t applied a primer for a number of days prior to using this and I can only describe that my skin felt safe and secure after applying the foundation. My skin has been slightly oily of late and absolutely needed a product like this for wearing underneath makeup. True to what its name says, it is very soothing and perfect for sensitive skin. It’s non-irritating and also has ingredients that improve redness in skin. The best bit is that it really did make my foundation last all day without having to worry about it wearing off, in fact I couldn’t quite believe how perfect my foundation still was when I went to remove it on my first use.  The Cover FX Calming Primer has an SPF of 30 which is such a benefit and is vegan friendly and free of the inflammatory Five: gluten, mineral oil, fragrance, parabens, and talc. This is a fabulous range and they really have thought of everything to make each product the best it can be.

My verdict:

This product is a saving “face” if you suffer with rosacea. I suffered more with it when I was younger but but still rears its ugly head from time to time. The tinted primer tones down the redness completely leaving a fantastic base to use foundation. I love the feel of this light weight gel. It glides on lovely and does what it says. I have used other primers from Bare Minerals and have been very impressed with all.

Charlotte has created a miracle fix to turn around tired, dull, dehydrated skin in a beauty flash called WONDERGLOW, powered by a breakthrough Fluorescent Core Light Diffuser that cleverly steals UV light from its surroundings and re-emits it as skin luminosity to disguise and transform drab, sleep-deprived skin. WONDERGLOW is a visionary new anti-age hybrid. A cross between an anti-age elixir and a complexion-enhancing light diffuser to give skin an instant “spotlight” effect.

My verdict:

Big fan in the house!! This has such a fantastic golden luminous glow to it which really illuminates the skin and often I can get away with just wearing this with a slight swish of bronzer over the top and then I’m good to go. I love the tube. It’s easy to control exactly how much I want to use and it’s not messy or bulky. It’s expensive but a little goes a long way and the quality is excellent. This is so lush and leaves your skin looking dewy and radiant. This is a product you just can’t wait to apply.

This is a great light weight primer that you can use under your foundation or just by itself. It lasts all day and makes your skin look flawless with a lovely matte finish. Many of us have some problem areas (like the t-zone) where pores appear larger. This product reduces the size of my pores It really works well to cover redness. The product does not feel tacky, so I was concerned that my makeup would not stick well, but it ended up blending out beautifully.Oh and I love Benefit’s quirky packaging and branding.
